Identity
I am drawn to problems where intelligence does not live in a single place — and where solving the right problem once unlocks the ability to solve many others almost effortlessly.
The problems that pull me in are unsolved, ambiguous, and consequential. They live in environments where no agent has a complete picture, signals are noisy, and action still has to be taken. These are systems where human-like reasoning matters: approximation instead of precision, judgment instead of rules, and coordination instead of control.
I am interested in emergent intelligence — how many imperfect agents, each limited on their own, can come together to reason, decide, and act in ways that are collectively far more capable than any individual part. But I am equally interested in leverage: identifying the abstraction or control surface that turns a hard, repeated problem into a reusable pattern.
Across domains, I am consistently drawn to platform-shaped problems — problems where a single, well-designed system changes the economics of effort. Solve the right layer, and entire classes of problems collapse into variations of the same solution.
This shows up in large-scale operational systems as centralized reasoning and health determination that replaces fragmented, reactive workflows. It shows up in agent-based systems as simple coordination rules that allow collective intelligence to emerge without centralized control. And it shows up in autonomous and physical systems, where intelligence must translate into action under uncertainty, latency, and approximation.
I am less interested in making systems faster than in making them wiser. Systems should know when to act, when to pause, and when to stop themselves from causing harm. They should reduce cognitive burden for humans, not amplify it. They should make the right thing easier — not merely the possible thing faster.
Some of this exploration takes the form of concrete systems — small, incomplete, and deliberately constrained — built not as products, but as substrates for studying how intelligence coordinates, reflects, and governs itself under uncertainty.
If given unlimited resources and no constraints, I would build a nano-intelligence swarm — a platform of small, limited agents that are individually simple, collectively intelligent, and capable of autonomous collaboration. Not to ship a product, but to learn what minimal rules, interfaces, and feedback loops allow intelligence to assemble itself — and how those same principles can be reused across domains.
That question — how intelligence emerges, coordinates, and creates leverage under real-world uncertainty — is the problem I keep returning to.
